Social Listening Post

For this assignment I chose to research Blizzard Entertainment. They are known for creating video games such as World of Warcraft, Overwatch and Diablo. They also produce products like mugs,  apparel, gaming setups and much more. I have been a long time World of Warcraft and Diablo play so I have always been interested in the company, but more recently I have thought about working for the company in the future. Blizzard Entertainment strives to providing a resonating gaming experience that is a long-term engaging entertainment. They also provide a gaming experience for all ages.

One of the ways that they market their product is through the stories that are released with new content as well as dlcs. The videos are captivating and make the viewer want to be part of the experience. They also provide vast rewards for your time and money spent, which they display frequently. They create an experience that grabs and keeps their audience. I have been playing 2006 when I was a freshman in high school. They also have it set up where you are well informed about all the news and special items in the game.

The above was the cinematic trailer for the announcement of the newest Act in the World of Warcraft Story. The left picture is a screenshot of the dashboard for the game launcher. It shows the most recent news, the limited time 30th anniversary bindle and a limited time mount that is available during the anniversary event. They are advertising their new event and content using little words, but it makes you want to click to learn more.

Another thing that blizzard does is celebrate their followers on their social medias and sites. They do this by showing off cosplayers, peoples posts about the item they have bought and showing their employees enjoying their own cosplays and items.

I have learned from this lesson is that it is important to make your audience as integrated into the success and experience of the product. By acknowledging them and expressing your excitement to have them part of your business community it will make the product more meaningful and the experience personal, people love that!
